Antoni Porowski, or the food and wine expert from the Netflix special this blog is parodied off of, Queer Eye, is one of my favorites from the show. I find Antoni to be a complete breath of fresh air, with his quirky opinions and comedic, light-hearted personality. He and his boyfriend, Joey, have been together for almost ten years and are actual #relationshipgoals.

Pictured above is the power couple, Antoni being the one on the right!

As described on his Wikipedia page, Antoni is a true cultural icon, being a food and wine connoisseur and speaks not one, not two, but THREE languages including English, Polish due to his household growing up and French due to the Canadian town he grew up in. Besides being an expert in all things food and drink for Queer Eye, Antoni can DO the damn thing. He was a personal chef, wrote a cookbook that will debut next Spring, and even hosts shows on the Food Network such as Chopped. All of this work has skyrocketed him into the spotlight within the past year or two, and as a fan, I could not be more thankful.

Antoni has received recent press and sparked social media debate as to whether or not he has what it takes to be the “resident foodie” as Vanity Fair calls him in a piece from late April. People have called his recipes basic and simple, but in the Vanity Fair piece, this debate was put to rest. Ted Allen, the foodie from the original show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and close personal friend/ employer of Antoni Porowski said “A lot of the stuff he does is what I call comfort-food bliss . . . he’s a cook with a point of view, and I appreciate that.” (Peyton, Matthew, Vanity Fair).

Antoni is also currently in the works to open up his own restaurant in New York City, according to a profile piece done on him by the New York Times back in September. They also got to join him for one of his fittings for the recent Emmy Awards (where the show won three out of the four awards they were nominated for, including Outstanding Casting)! This makes sense to me because I know that myself, Emmaline, and Sadie, like the rest of the country, quickly fell in love with Antoni and the Queer Eye gang.

@laurenrude17 I'm not sure the specifics of his restaurant, but he is coming to Pitt on Nov. 28th. Maybe he'll speak on it, fingers crossed!

Tan is for sure my favorite, but Antoni is a close second in my heart. What is like the "theme" of his restaurant? Also where is it??? I need to go! I am so ecstatic that both Tan and Antoni are coming out with books, I will be making them my summer reads on the beach. Like you three, my friends and I fell in love with the five guys so I can't wait to read the next Queer Eye Guy Feature.
