Hey everyone! We here at College Eye only felt it was fair as your guides to college life to provide you with our own backgrounds and stories. My goal here today is for you to get to know me in order to properly assess any advice, tips, or information I give you for your own use or application. We’ll start simple here with my name, Delaney Amber Kelly. Honestly, I haven’t ever adored my middle name and my first name can be a bit long according to some people, so you can call me D-Kell for short like some of my friends do. I hope we can become good friends, so it seems appropriate enough to me.
To begin, I’m a senior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Economics with certificates in both Arabic and Global Studies. I was born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and graduated from Baldwin High School. I was raised by my mom, Melissa, following her separation from my dad due to addiction problems and even helped raise my younger brother, Jarren, as well. I tend to call my mom “Meliss” when I’m being sarcastic, which happens to be my favorite activity. I also have an older brother, Carthele, who lives in Oakland, CA and wishes he could be as cool as me. My boyfriend, Matthew, and I have been together for three years, and just recently moved in together in Bloomfield.
My birthday is January 24th, making me an Aquarius, if that means anything to you. I don’t know much about astrology, but per my lovely friends, my sign is usually someone with a free spirit and stubbornness about them. I’d like to think that this is mostly true, as I love to travel and tend to have very strong convictions in which my beliefs are rarely swayed. I would go to the ends of the earth for my friends and family, as they each hold dear places in my heart.
I think of myself as a good listener, and often have a plethora of advice for my loved ones; hence why I decided a lifestyle blog was the right fit for me. I am a HUGE dog person, and can more often than not be found shamelessly following random puppies down the street to pet them. I have a beagle name Layla, pictured below, who I enjoy calling my child and treating like a human member of my family, as pets should be.
Lastly, I think the greatest thing my life has given me is experience, which I intend to share with all of you. I hope my experiences can either inspire, or maybe even deter, you all to have a unique time and enrich your lives.
