Tan France is one of the Fab Five members on the very famous show Queer Eye. The Fab Five go into men's lives who are struggling with daily successes, like self-image and confidence. Each member specializes in one topic, and he is fashion. The men always have issues with dressing because they often come to the Fab Five very self-conscious, or simply do not care enough to dress well, and this is where Tan and his brilliance about fashion come in. Tan offers up tips and buys each guy a brand new closet full of appropriate clothes to wear in public. He dresses them to match the new found confidence that lies within each of them, Tan says, “As a stylist, my goal is to help people be the best versions of themselves”, and he achieves this very thing every episode.
.
A little more about Tan, he is thirty-five years old and grew up in Doncaster, England. He was raised by his Pakistani mother and father in a pretty traditional house. He is able to relate to some of the guys who grow up in a very strict home and give them some advice. Always willing and proud to share his stories of growing up, Tan is able to relate a lot more to these guys then it may originally seem. Tan now lives in Salt Lake City Utah with his husband Rob France as he works on the series Queer Eye.
.
Tan started loving fashion when he was very young, his grandparents owned a factory for Disney, and he was inspired by those looks. He studied fashion at Doncaster College and then from there moved up. Moving from Manchester to London to the states, Tan has always searched for new places to be inspired. He found himself head of design for women's clothing for Kingdom & State. Adding a unique spin on each piece of clothing, Tan was really valued there. He is planning on releasing a memoir of his life in fashion in February 2019, called “St. Martins Press”. His work life has always been successful and that is what helps him guide people in the show.
.
Not only is Tan an incredible designer who can make anyone look good, but Tan a spectacular talent in making people feel good as well. He has been very open during these past two seasons, even about his own insecurities and places of weakness. Always wanted to improve himself, Tan is a perfect example to these men on how to really accept help.
Tan has a lot of experience in the fashion world, and his resume reflects that. He is always encouraging the guys on the show to dress comfortably and confidently. He never pushes them beyond their comfort zone and always makes sure they feel like themselves in the clothes he is putting them in. Tan says, “For me, I don't go, 'Let me walk into this person's home. I don't care who they are, I'm going to put them in a Dolce & Gabbana suit, and I really want them to have a pink shirt.'”, he really cares about what they want. Tan compassionate and loves fashion, and his eye for style has helped so many guys that have been on the show look and feel great.

I had no idea about most of the stuff about Tan's background, he sounds like a great guy I'll have to give the show a watch!
Tan is my absolute favorite of the five guys. I got my housemates hooked on Queer Eye this year and we then spent hours stalking them on social media and watching them in interviews. I did not know about his book coming out in 2019 so I am sooooo excited for that now! Definitely something I will be purchasing despite what my bank account says.
What a cool guy! I have never seen the show but reading this piece on Tan makes me want to check it out. I'll also be sure to keep an eye out for his book coming out. I am interested in watching the show to hear about some of his stories growing up and the advice he has to share.
